ORU

Support

Answers to the questions that come up most often. If what you need isn't here, get in touch.

Getting in touch

Email puthj.z@gmail.com. It helps to include your device, your iOS version, and what you were doing when the problem appeared.

Account access

On a device you have already set up, your PIN unlocks ORU, and Face ID can unlock it too if you have turned that on. Your PIN still works whenever you need it. On a new device, your Recovery Words are what let you back in.

Recovery Words

Your twelve Recovery Words are generated on your own device when you set up your archive, and they are the only way back into that archive on a new device. Write them down and keep them somewhere safe and private. ORU never receives them and cannot recover them for you, so losing them means losing access to what the archive holds.

Purchases and Restore Purchase

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple through your Apple Account, including billing, cancellations, and refund requests. If you have reinstalled ORU or moved to a new device, use Restore Purchase to bring an existing purchase back. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.

Journals

If a journal is not where you expect it, check Ready to Seal — a journal stays there until it has been sealed into your archive. If sealing did not finish, the writing itself is still safe and you can try again.

Letters

For anything about writing, sending, or opening a Letter, get in touch and tell us roughly when the Letter was written and who it was meant for. Please do not include the contents of the Letter in your message.

Media Preservation

Photos and other media you add are kept alongside the entries they belong to. Large items can take a while to finish processing, so give them time to complete before adding more. If something looks like it did not finish, get in touch and describe what you added.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from within ORU. Deleting permanently removes your account and your ORU data, and your journals and private archive cannot be recovered afterward.
